She has long dark hair, and large eyes. She is slim but full breasted, indeed she has almost a Spanish or Italian look to her rather than the conventional English Rose type she should resemble a water colour by Russell-Flint. She has left behind England and exams for the summer. She has also left behind a boyfriend, her first serious passion now over, he has dumped her for another. She has come to stay with her aunt, a she has many times before, only because of the party she is allowed to stay with Freddie and Marie Pierre. She is something of a Tabula Raasa, and the object of scrutiny and possible love by several of the characters and Jane's are the eyes through which we see and understand the story.
